Today we had a parent afternoon session at which we looked at the use of ‘Explain Everything’. We had wanted this to be a session when the students were helping and explaining to parents how to use the app and that the parents would be the ones who were ‘hands-on’. I knew that the children would find this challenging as they do tend to move very quickly with getting things done on the iPads and to get easily frustrated with others when we don’t move as quickly as they would like us to.
As a group, we created a movie about a maths sum. We included an introductory slide and a concluding slide and created a movie which showed our understanding of the processes involved. We also created a movie about the main characters in The Twits.
It was a great session – thanks to those who were able to come along. Next time we will try for a later session which might offer an opportunity for those who work all day.
