The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. Why code? Every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st century career path.
To participate, students can work on an activity for any hour during the week of December 7-13. Here are some great ideas:
- Kids love minecraft? Try this great activity through code.org
- Hopscotch fan? Download it for free to your tablet and then use this YouTube channel to get ideas.
- Have a younger child? Try using this free app Kodable
- No computer or tablet? No problem – use this unplugged activity to involve your child in computational thinking.
- Love star wars? Involve your child in this drag and drop interface
- Use Scratch to create a conversation between characters.
- Use ScratchJunior (app) for little ones to draw their favourite story book character and make it talk and even add sounds!
- Use CodeKombat to get your kids involved in a game that will stimulate their competitive edge.
