DigiTech with our Youngest Students

Mrs O’Connor has been doing some amazing work with our students in Prep over the last semester, with the variety of activities showing clear links between the new Digital Technologies curriculum and other curriculum areas such as English and Maths.  Most recently, the students have been involved in rotational learning situations which have exposed students to three different activities:

  1. Scratch Jn led by the teacher (see activity described below)
  2. Independent use of  Maths software – on laptops
  3. Bee Bots  – Digital Technologies and Maths – using location and direction.

The children used direction cards before moving the beebot so that they created a clear sequence of instructions.  The Digital Technologies curriculum is displayed at the base of this blog with 004 being the content descriptor being addressed with this activity.

The children have been looking at rhyming words in their English unit recently.  The most recent Scratch Jn work was a wonderful example of how coding in Junior Primary can be approached in quite a  cross-curricular manner:
