National eSmart Week is held on the week beginning the 5th September in 2016.

It is interesting to note that digital citizenship is included in a content descriptor within the new Digital Technologies Curriculum.  What each of these means can be open to interpretation by a school wishing to use their own context to design meaningful learning.

Band F-2

Band 3-4

Plan, create and communicate ideas and information independently and with others, applying agreed ethical and social protocols(ACTDIP013)

Band 5-6

Plan, create and communicate ideas and information, including collaboratively online, applying agreed ethical, social and technical protocols(ACTDIP022)

This week in our classrooms, each teacher will look at their own chosen area of digital citizenship depending on the curriculum and learning context for their classroom.  As a school, we believe that digital citizenship should be interwoven into the fabric of what we do and should be dealt with in context and in a proactive manner.  We are currently in the ‘Implementing’ stage of the eSmart framework and are endeavouring to align this with the Digital Technologies Curriculum so that by the end of this year we have a clear picture of what each year level needs to cover.
