Scratching Towards Adaptations

During the period of time in Term 2 that many of our students were learning from home, Yr 5 students studied the science of adaptations applying their knowledge through the design of a diorama habitat for a particular animal.  To enable the students to apply their understanding in a new context they were then supported to build a maze game in Scratch that was based around their earlier experiences with a digital game “Morphy”.

The children were provided with a range of experiences to support their computational and design thinking skills:

The results were fantastic, with each child able to work in their own ‘challenge zone’ to build a solution that fulfilled all the requirements of the task.
